Fall/Winter Blog 3: Cabin Christmas Gift Guide

If your tree is looking a bit empty or your stockings still need stuffing, we can help!

If you're anything like us, you probably have yet to cross off all of the names on your Christmas list. We'd like to encourage you to shop small and shop local, so in this blog, we're sharing some of our favorite small and local businesses.

  1. Ranching Tradition Fiber

If someone on your list is crafty, check out Ranching Tradition Fiber for a selection of yarn and raw wool.

  2. Country Christmas Pop-Up Shop

If you're local to the Whitehall area, or if you happen to be passing through, check out the Country Christmas Pop-Up shop at 113 W. Legion Street in Whitehall for a selection of handmade goods by local makers.

  3. Salmon Sisters

Salmon Sisters is a small, woman-owned business out of Alaska that promotes and supports sustainable fisheries and produces gorgeous home goods. They also collaborate with XTRATUF, which has a boot for every need, from gardening to fishing.

  4. Carey Me Away Designs

For everything from custom leather work to wallets to earrings and everything in between, check out Carey Me Away Designs!

  5. Tilden Shop

Tilden creates stunning, bespoke pieces made out of premium denim and other thoughtfully sourced materials.

  6. MT Wild Rags

For high-quality scarves that can be dressed up or withstand the toughest of working conditions, we recommend MT Wild Rags. Dawndi loves hers!

  7. Local Breweries or Distilleries

For those on your list who enjoy a brewski or two or are master mixologists, we suggest a gift certificate or a new brew from—or even booking a tour at—a local brewery or distillery. The Crew at MMC loves Headframe Spirits in Butte, Wildrye Distilling and Bridger Brewing in Bozeman, and Kettlehouse Brewing and Big Sky Brewing in Missoula. (Disclaimer: This suggestion is only for those on your list aged 21 and up! Please drink responsibility.)

  8. Local Restaurants or Coffee Shops

A gift certificate to a local restaurant or a mug and a bag of coffee beans from a local coffee shop can make a great gift! If you're local to the Whitehall area, you should also check out Scratch Food MT by Jody Cargill for meal delivery. The Crew at MMC also loves Whitehall Coffee Company and Wheat Montana in Three Forks! We also suggest Treeline Coffee Roasters in Bozeman.

  9. Local Vintage/Thrift Shops

Sometimes the best finds are secondhand! Our favorites in Whitehall are M&M Vintage and Tona's Treasures. If you're in Bozeman, check out the Treasure Emporium and Bozeman Vintage.

  10. Local Hardware Stores

This can be the perfect place to shop for the dad or husband on your list. If you're in Whitehall, stop by Ace Hardware or Smith Supply.

  11. Local Bookstores

A gift certificate or a stack of books will certainly be appreciated by the reader in your life. Or, if you're in the market for a cookbook, check out The Gull Cove Lodge Cookbook by our friends at Gull Cove Lodge.

  12. Montana Inspired Gifts

Whether you're a tourist, a returning visitor, or a local, Montana provides endless inspiration for all sorts of gifts. If you're in Bozeman, we suggest checking out Heyday, Montana Gift Corral. We also recommend Chalet Market in Four Corners for local meats and huckleberry goods (if you know, you know).

  13. Art

From ceramics and paintings to mixed media and tattoos, supporting your local artists is always in style. Some of our favorites are Morgan Park Art (visit her shop online), Arts on Fire in Bozeman, and The Coffee Pot in Four Corners.

Disclaimer: This is not a paid, sponsored, or affiliate post! These are businesses and makers that we love and that we hope you do too. We encourage you to shop small and shop local not just during the holiday season, but all year round. What are your favorite small/local businesses? Tell us in the comments!

The Crew at MMC wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
